It’s getting harder to get to Kona…

If you think it’s getting harder to get to Kona, you are right! I did some analytics on qualifying times and discovered that a male athlete 30-34 years old had a 7.5% chance of qualifying for Kona in IM Canada in 1999. In this same age group, an athlete only had a 2.8% chance of qualifying in 2007. There were 23 slots and 308 athletes in 1999 and 6 slots for 218 athletes in 2007. Quite a difference!

In my analysis, the percentage of athletes who qualified decreased for ALL age groups for both IM Canada and IM Florida.
